Chest Pain: Advanced Assessment and Managementpromotes a systematic approach to the assessment and management ofpatients presenting with chest pain and related undifferentiatedsymptoms. Specifically, it equips practitioners with the knowledgeand clinical skills needed to effectively differentiate and respondto clinical presentations where the primary symptom for seekinghealthcare advice involves chest pain. Introductory chapters in section one explore the principles ofphysical assessment, history taking and differential diagnosis toprovide the framework for subsequent chapters, which explorecardiac and non-cardiac causes of chest pain. Section two examines the advanced assessment and overallmanagement of patients with pain in the chest. A range of clinicalconditions that trigger chest pain and other related symptoms arecovered, including: angina, acute coronary syndromes, pericarditisand myocarditis, aortic dissection, pulmonary embolism,oesophago-gastric disorders, musculoskeletal causes, pulmonary andrespiratory causes, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction,chest pain caused by trauma or cardiac syndrome X, cocaine misuseand Herpes zoster.
