Beschreibung

Several fundamentally important questions form the basis for thisbook. What are the relationships between tumour formation andtumour pH? What are the effects of tumour pH and hypoxia oncarcinogenesis or tumorigenesis? What are the therapeuticconsequences of tumour pH? It is hypothesised that low extracellular pH is not only animportant consequence of tumour growth but may also promote furthertumorigenic transformation. Furthermore, in vitro studiessuggest that low pH strongly affects the efficacy of chemo- andradiotherapy. Better understanding of the influence of pH ontumour growth, coupled with manipulation of the pH of the tumourmicroenvironment, may lead to the development of more effectivetherapies.
