The majority of this collection has not been seen by the general public since the mid-1930's. Close-up photography and design techniques are used in this book to portray the precision and art of wood engraving. In-depth and historical background information into Roger A. Buck's life and career as a professional artist and Printmaker, the work of which has been compared to that of other contemporaries in the Depression-Era, such as well-known wood engravers Lynd Ward and Rockwell Kent.
