Three friends enlist in WW1 and find their niche in life. One seeking to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and a Pilot.

This young country boy with a mechanical aptitude, has a fascination with aviation, and ultimately achieves his ambition. Starting as an assistant to a town mechanic, he becomes a qualified mechanic. During this time, he collects as much information as possible, on the emerging Aviation Industry, while carrying out kite flying experiments on his father's farm. Throughout these days, Jimmy had kept a record of every task he had performed and each kite flying experiment. He is intrigued by the Wedge Tailed Eagle's wings shape and movements in flight.

He travelled to the U.K. and Joined the AVRO Airplane Company and became an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and a Pilot. During WW1 he served as a Ferry Pilot in Europe and in the Desert campaign. After the War, Jimmy married, had a family and successfully joined the newly established Aviation Industry in Australia.
