Beschreibung

Through vivid stories and personal experiences, the book’s author, Dr. Adriene B. Wright gently guides the reader to see themselves inwardly and to see how living a transformed life can bring an abundance of peace, prosperity, and freedom. Though we may be well acquainted with the mirror, Dr. Wright uses personal experiences to guide the reader into seeing their inner-being more clearly. She devotes an entire chapter on embedded emotions including anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, and an incessant need for validation. She discusses how to identify triggers that can cause an uncontrollable release of these emotions like a ruptured volcano.

While the author uses the mirror as a guide, she makes clear to the reader that it really is about the reflection. Everything about us is a witness to other people: Like a toddler who mimics the behavior learned or observed from its parents. There are many studies that have been conducted on the art of mirroring and its effect on the young and old. We don't stop learning and the impact of mirroring is much greater than what we may imagine. The author draws the reader to see themselves by asking a series of questions at the end of each chapter as a way of reflection and to guide the reader in making a self-assessment.

Throughout the book is an emphasis on transformation. The author stresses the importance of self-reflection and provides relevant scriptural references. She also discusses the numerous do-it-yourself (DIY) approaches in the market today that may help with whatever needs you may identify but emphasizes that it is really the work of the Holy Spirit that brings about a sustainable transformation. The transformational process is not only life-long, but it also requires commitment and obedience. There are some who think that they can achieve transformation on their own terms and in their own way. There are some who mistakenly think that they must give up everything or worst, that they must clean up their life before coming to Christ. The author identifies the fallacies and exposes the misconceptions to bring the reader to a place of truth and freedom.

It is the writer's highest aim that the reader will embark on a journey of transformation with Christ. The more we are transformed into an image of Christ Jesus, the better we are prepared to accomplish the purpose that God intends for us. This is where we reap the greatest joy of knowing our purpose, place, and provision in God's Kingdom.

Mirror, Mirror: What Reflection Do You See? is an awakening, guiding the reader to see their inner being more clear. This book exposes false images, man-made standards of vanity, and the ‘new normal’ deception that can hinder our life’s journey. It also illustrates the joys and freedom of living a transformed life and the greater heritage that awaits us.
