American scientist walks into a forensic case in Germany purely out of interest, but then slowly uncovers and unravels many of the wrongdoings of the meat industry in Germany and beyond, exposing how these activities were supported by the highest of authorities and intelligence communities. The activities commenced in the pre-reunification era, capitalizing on Berlin’s unique status. They eventually spread across large parts of Europe. Meat industry wrongdoings are exposed from a personal level to a municipal and regional level, as well as, a country, european, and world level. Following events before and after the fall of the wall, helps narrow down the major players and how both eastern and western double agents were involved in the business, and explains why there are still a string of scandals that expose why these wrongdoings are yet a current issue, with unethical practice and inadequate controls and regulation by governments dominating the scene. Under the pressures of resolving a peaceful reunification, the major powers turned a blind eye to the ever-increasing illegal activities by German double-agents, however, it did not go unnoticed, as it was registered in the illegal trading of high tech commodities, nuclear materials, but also in plain old sausage. The extreme efforts to suppress knowledge of these activities and official counts of obstruction of justice are also exposed. All in all, a great deal of Germany’s lack of integrity is exposed, and gives a different perspective on viewing Uwe Barschel’s death.
