Often played by jazz bands, this jazz standard is traditionally used as a jazz funeral march in New Orleans. An American gospel hymn of unknown origins this is not to be confused with the Purvis/Black song by the same title from 1896. In sports its the anthem of among others Southampton FC, Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur and the Rhodesian Light Infantry used it as their regimental march. In Japan actress Kotono Mitsuishi performed a cover in 1995 and the it was used in Disneys TV series, Goof Troop.
