Beschreibung

Until the 1977 publication of L.D. MacIntyre’s Clan MacIntyre – A Journey to the Past, the only published history of Clan MacIntyre was The MacIntyres of Glenoe and Camus-na-h-Erie (1901) by Duncan MacIntyre, 14th of Camus-na-h-Erie – 20 pages and one illustration. The 1st edition of this history greatly expanded on that effort with 82 pages, 30 photographs and illustrations. The text relied greatly on the 1936 unpublished history and stories by Alexander James MacIntyre of Inveraray. In 1995, no copies remained and L.D.’s son decided to write a 2nd edition. In 1997, he received a draft copy of the 1991 unpublished Clan MacIntyre by Duncan McIntyre of Sydney, Australia. It was an essential resource for this 2nd edition, just as Alexander’s 1936 unpublished history was for the 1st edition. Knowing the many items L.D. had to omit and interest in a second edition, the size of the effort expanded ten-fold involving a great deal more time, research and writing skill than the author had anticipated. The 2nd edition has 320 pages with 104 photographs, maps, charts, tables, drawings, historic documents, tour guide, poems and music compositions, of which over half are in color. There is something for MacIntyres of all ages and interests.
