The concept of nanotechnology is considered modern and offers revolutionary technological opportunities for a wide range of civil and defense applications. The concept of conventional war fare has been changed by the applications of nano materials by redefining aerodynamics, mobility, sensing, power generation and management, smart structures and material, robustness and resilience. With the tailor made ability of possessing desirable properties, nano materials have great advantages in developing lethal and potent weapons. This volume kicks off with the chapter of Nanotechnology in Defense: from Man, Machine and beyond; that gives a summary of requirement, applications, properties, challenges and covers the present and the futuristic aspects related to defense.
