Beschreibung

Pete had never felt so alone in his entire life, that is, if you don't count the time when he was twelve and trapped a skunk under his parent's bedroom. They weren't pleased. One of them placed an ad in the paper: "Boy for sale. Fifty Cents or best offer. Comes with a set of clothes and animal trap." There were no takers. Now 13 years later he finds himself stranded in the small town of Gallup, New Mexico in the snowstorm of the century, twenty-four inches on the ground and still falling. He has misplaced his wallet with money and identification. A girl he knows from college lives close and he calls her. Little did he know that by making that phone call, he would find himself at times fearing for his life and trapped among the most unusual collection of characters imaginable outside of Twain's Missouri, Carroll's Wonderland, Baum's Oz, Tolkiens's Middle Earth, Bronte's 1840 Yorkshire, McManus' Idaho or Erickson's Hank in the West Texas Panhandle. It would be a Christmas shared with a proud WWII Marine, loyal Indians, a cantankerous pirate, an unstable attack parrot, two beautiful girls, parents, and an amoral 6'7" giant. Fate had given him an opportunity at the old fashion Christmas of his dreams. All he had to do was survive and avoid the police.
