This special issue of the International Journal of Structural Integrity includes a selection of five papers presented in a shorter version at the 1st EASN Association Workshop on Aerostructures. Almost three years have passed since EASN was founded as an independent European Association for coordinating and supporting the interests of the European Universities and facilitate academia to perform funded research. One of the main tasks of EASN is to promote the dissemination of knowledge, as well as to support the transfer of innovation and new technologies originating from academic research to the industry. In this context, the EASN Association organised on October 7th- 8th 2010 a workshop in Paris, dedicated to the technological area of Aerostructures.
