‘The Shefford beaker’, by Cyril Fox [The beaker, dating to about 1800 BC, was found between Shefford and Campton in 1819. It is stated to be the only authentic example of a beaker-folk artefact found in the upland valley of the Great Ouse. At the time the article was written, the beaker was in the Huntingdon Institution.] ‘The Morteyn family in Bedfordshire’, by G. Andrews Moriarty [The family are first noted in Bedfordshire in Tilsworth in 1212. Their spread to other parts of the county is recounted and a nine-generation pedigree provided for the period 1212-1429.] ‘The shire of Bedford and the earldom of Huntingdon’, by G. Herbert Fowler [Twelfth century charters in Latin, with English abstracts, and a table of descent of the earldoms of Northampton and Huntingdon. There is an additional note at the end of the volume.]
‘The later descent of Wingate of Harlington’, by Jos. Hight Blundell [This account of the Wingate family after the Heralds’ visitation traces the family from 1635 to 1770 and has a four-generation pedigree.]
‘The disseisins by Falk de Breaute at Luton’, by G. Herbert Fowler and Michael W. Hughes [Abstract of entries in the 1224 Curia Regis roll 85 of courts held in Dunstable referring to de Breaute’s actions in Luton. There is an additional note at the end of the volume.]
