This is a delightful story about Daniel’s search for his grown-up job. Daniel wants to be just like his mom and dad. He hopes his job will also help him encourage his friend Joe who has a physical disability and is in a wheelchair. As he thinks about the perfect job, Daniel encounters two homeless dogs, Clyde and Mittens. Clyde is injured because he tries to protect Mittens from dogs who constantly bully her by making fun of her four white paws. Daniel unexpectedly gets assistance from Frankie, a superpower dog from Heaven. Frankie’s job in Heaven is to help humans on Earth rescue animals and find them forever homes. Daniel and Frankie rescue Clyde and Mittens while also encouraging Joe to walk. In reading this book, parents and children alike will observe how the power of love and kindness, embodied in friendship, helps Daniel, Joe, Clyde, and Mittens overcome difficulties. This tender story contains examples to help children understand the importance of not giving up, facing challenges, having pride, and believing in yourself. It shows favorable results in many ways. Joe and Clyde meet physical challenges by having a positive attitude. Mittens’ paws “save the day” by helping Clyde when he is injured, and Mittens soon realizes that she is awesome, just as she is. Daniel learns the impact of friendship. Frankie returns to Heaven, having helped two boys find joy and two little dogs find a forever home. This book also demonstrates the seriousness of bullying and the emotional pain it causes. Most importantly, it advises all of us:
