Beschreibung

Gonna Build a Boat is the second book in a series featuring Yumyum the alligator by Best-Selling Childrens Book Author, Cathy Gagliardi. This beautiful story will be a lovely addition to your child's library and quickly become a favorite of theirs and yours.

This book shows Billy and his friend Yumyum the Alligator having a goal and including others, making them feel special. They all work together with pride to build more than a boat.

During this adventure, they come across Dot who is showing signs of depression. She is sad, doesn't feel like doing anything or being with anyone, and doesn't want to ruin the experience for others. Does this sound familiar? It should, as many people show these signs and are considered shy, snobby, rude, and 'Different'.

Next, they meet Mickey. Frustrated as he tries to ride a broken bike. Without the money to buy a new bike or have 'nice things', Mickey has no chance of participating in any exciting adventures. Like the neighbours, it is common for his family to be considered poor, bums, dirty, ignorant, and 'Different'.

They were lucky enough to meet Malcolm and his dog Rascal on their journey. Malcolm being disabled could cause an uncomfortable feeling, making one choose not to include him or expect him not to want to be included. Instead of letting a disabled person decide what they can achieve and accepting them as equal, they can be considered incompetent and 'Different'.

'Different' should not be uncomfortable but interesting as we are really all different from one another. This is a journey of learning acceptance, compassion, and worth of yourself and others. It teaches children how to embrace the differences in others.

The value of being the one who makes the effort to give love is equal to that of the recipient. Yumyum, Billy, and all their new friends have experienced a new level of what it means to live with love.

Other books in the Yumyum series include:

  • Bellyflies
  • Mother Love
  • I Love Ice Cream
  • Chocolate Egg Willow
