Beschreibung

Seminar paper from the year 2023 in the subject Politics - Miscellaneous, , language: English, abstract: This paper will examine the nature of parties and elections in Myanmar, the authoritarian controls and economic conditions that have contributed to protests and the potential for future protests in Myanmar. Myanmar is a Southeast Asian country that has been subject to both, democratic and authoritarian, forms of government. The state is experiencing a transition period from authoritarian rule to more democratic control. This transition has been marked by the emergence of new political parties, the weakening of the military's control over the country and the implementation of economic reforms. As a result, the country has seen several protests and demonstrations, some of which have had considerable political and economic consequences. These protests have responded to various issues, including changes in the party system, authoritarian controls, economic conditions, and blame. The nature of state repression in Myanmar has been called into question because of these protests.
