It is presented here in a new translation and the author of the preface situates it in the historical context of Italian and French Quietism. Thus, its content is re-evaluated by taking into account both the new meanings mystical literature has acquired in modern historical research and the secularized echoes of mysticism in an important trend of contemporary culture.
