Art and photography: an uncomfortable binomial, an approaching, especially in the past not easy and still nowadays sometimes seen with suspicion. Isn’t it true – we hear claiming – that all the history of contemporary art, beginning by Impressionism till later on coming through the avant-gardes, the abstractionism, nothing has been but a great, wonderful escape by the illusion of the truth that, in parallel, science and technique with their inexorable instruments brought to improvement with photography? But even if so it were, this wouldn’t be else except an ulterior merit of photography, a fact that by its own isn’t able to deny the concrete, crystalline possibility of this discipline to come into art. It’s suggestive the memory that reminds us of how the first exhibition of the group of impressionist painters was hosted, on the 15th April 1874, right in the studio of a photographer, Nadar, at the number 35 in Boulevard de Capucines in Paris...
