The platform of classic thought is still valid for reflecting on the ultimate meaning and refinement of activities in modern organisations. To think of virtues as resources of personality for individual and collective improvement, rather than as limits, is an appropriate correction to the usual stereotypical image of the cornerstones of classical ethics. Bringing back the passions to their role as the fuel of human life, in pursuit of a “musical” harmonisation with reason, must be an incentive to step back and reflect on the scope of the qualities of character that make the lives of families not only more liveable, but more effective as well.
