Felice Giardini (Torino, 1716 – Mosca, 1796), anche noto come Degiardini o Desjardins, fu uno dei maggiori protagonisti italiani sulla scena musicale londinese della seconda metà del XVIII secolo. Allievo eminente di Giovanni Battista Somis, dopo una brillante carriera di violinista nel 1750 approdò a Londra, dove dimorò per ben trentacinque anni dando vita a una nuova Scuola violinistica e a una prestigiosa attività didattica. Sei Duetti a due Violini op. 2, dedicati al Principe Friedrich Heinrich Ludwig
di Prussia (1726-1802), furono stampati, per conto dell’autore, per l’editore londinese John Cox nel 1751. In queste opere lo stile compositivo di Giardini è spontaneo, mai artificioso, fresco, cantabile, di elegante naturalezza.
