This book brings together essays written by Luisa Conti Camaiora over several decades of research and teaching in the field of the English language and literature. The ratio is clearly in favour of the literary output though the reader will notice that the first two essays (the order of presentation is chronological) deal with the theory and the didactics of English as a language: A Brief Comparison of Certain Features of Nominal Group Premodification in English and Italian (pp. 11-35), and The Problem of a Second-Year English-Language University Course (pp. 37-44), both of which appeared in “Rassegna Italiana di Linguistica Applicata” in the early Seventies. They were also her first published works.
