Scientific Study from the year 2021 in the subject History Europe - Other Countries - Middle Ages, Early Modern Age, , course: полный, language: Russian, abstract: The study presented by the author Anatoly Petrovsky, which uses written primary sources and describes archaeological finds, convincingly proves how the Russian Empire replaced historical science with systemic ideological and political propaganda. At the same time, the destruction of archaeological monuments took place, which debunked this propaganda. The researcher, using written sources collected by Tormod Torfey, was able to determine the purpose of the archaeological finds and localize Holmgard, thereby proving the inconsistency of identifying it with Russian Novgorod. The author draws attention to the fact that the throne of the kings of Gardariki (Rus) Igor, Svyatoslav, Vladimir, Yaroslav, Alexander, during the Middle Ages, was not in Kiev, but Holmgard (Garda). In the article, Petrovsky shows that thanks to the collected material and research by Tormod Torfey, it became possible to free the historiography of Ukraine and Russia during the Middle Ages from myths, returning the scientific basis. Читателю статьи представлены убедительные аргументы о несостоятельности теории, которая отожествляет российский Новгород со средневековым Хольмгардом. Данное открытие дало толчок к критическому анализу историографии Восточной Европы поры средневековья и переосмыслению исторического прошлого Украины и России. Статья показывает, каким образом находки и исследования Тормода Торфея (Тормодуса Торфеуса) повлияли на развитие историографии Восточной Европы. Научная статья «Тормод Торфей и украинская историография» повествует о том, как в одном из селений Исландии был обнаружен манускрипт, написанный в конце XIV века. В 1664 году он привезен в Копенгаген, где получил известность под названием «Книга плоского острова». Содержащаяся в нем «Сага об Эймунде» позволила определить назначение археологической памятки средневековья в Северном Причерноморье, что в свою очередь дало возможность локализовать столицу Гардарикии-Руси - Гард (Хольмгард).
