Starting with a brief history of the Hohenzollerns, the royal house from which he descended, it follows the major events of Wilhelm's life. Being a prince whose grandfather reigned strong on the throne of Germany, and whose father's robust health showed signs of an equally long reign, it was not considered that he would reign any time soon. But as young William grows up into a sharp intellectual, with steadily forming political views on the state of the Empire, he is soon thrust to the helm of one of Europe's great empires at a critical moment in history, that of the start of the First World War…
