Beschreibung

This book begins by presenting an overview of the karst problem worldwide, and examines Dead Sea evaporite karst, including its features and methods of investigation, a review of geophysical methods for karst investigation and features of geophysics for investigation of different aspects of the DS karst and sinkholes, respectively. The authors present practically all geophysical methods that have been applied. The book shows the potential of geophysical methods for resolving real problems of karst. The description of different aspects of the problem and justification of the necessity to understand the phenomenon in the relationship with the geology and hydrogeology of specific regions represents one of the main parts of the book.

Key Features

  • Karst around the world and its investigation

  • Development of evaporate karst in the Dead Sea shore and the sinkholes problem

  • Karst detection, and mitigation observed by surface geophysical methods

  • An overview of the efficiency of surface geophysical methods for karst detection

  • Contribution of surface geophysical methods to environmental security (natural hazard/karst related hazard)
