We follow Elizabeth and James' love tale in this medieval romance book. Despite the turmoil and horror all around them, they find comfort in each other's presence and quickly fall in love when they first meet while working at a hospital during World War Two. As Elizabeth contracts a strange ailment, their relationship is put to the test. James is devoted to saving her and spends endless hours at her bedside. When she finally makes a full recovery, their lives are permanently altered. Elizabeth and James collaborate to construct a hospital that would provide assistance and comfort to people in need after the conflict. They continue to grow closer to one another as they put in an unrelenting effort to realize their goal. Then disaster hits when Elizabeth contracts cancer this time after becoming unwell once again. James is heartbroken, but he keeps trying. He cares for her and finds comfort in their affection, spending as much time at her side as he can. James understands that he has to consider what will happen once Elizabeth passes away as her condition worsens. Together, they establish a foundation that will finance and support healthcare programs all over the globe as a means to pay tribute to Elizabeth and carry on their collaborative effort. James is at ease knowing that their legacy endures even after Elizabeth dies gone. He keeps up his diligent efforts because he has a strong sense of purpose and wants to change the world. James observes as the hospital and foundation flourish throughout the years, changing the lives of countless people and offering support and care to those who most need it. And despite the fact that his own health is deteriorating, he is still dedicated to making sure that their legacy will go on. Finally, James finds love again, this time with a young lady who shares his love of doing good deeds. Together, they create a life based on compassion and love that is inspired by the same ideals that have sustained Elizabeth and James for so long. They realize that theirs has been a genuine love story that has endured through the decades and affected many people as they gaze out at the world around them. For them, there was no higher joy than knowing that their love had mattered, that it had motivated others to improve themselves, to accomplish more, and to devote their lives to helping others. In the novel's epilogue, Elizabeth and James are seen from above, knowing that their legacy is safe and that their love story would endure and uplift others for many centuries.
