Beschreibung

In her new life she meets many of the people she knew in her previous life. While they look different, she recognizes their souls. The soul retains its experience from its previous lives, seeking out those with whom it was connected, for good or bad. This it feels unconsciously.

What the two stories in this book have in common is that they take place in America and tackle related matters, even if they do so in different ways; the borders of human life where strange forces are at play. The author clearly states in the foreword how the two stories can be traced back to her dreams. The first one, Forget-me-not, tells the story of a motherless child, Gabrielle, otherwise known as Forget-me-not, who is raised by a mystical Indian woman, Tara, but discovers that she herself possesses supernatural powers. This results in her father trying to win her back so that he can profit from her talents. As stepmother and daughter try to escape his clutches, their fl ight becomes the dramatic plot on which the story centers, and Gabrielle tells it in an unpretentious and sensitive manner. The second story, Drops of Dew, is longer and has greater impact. It tells the story of orphaned, identical twin sisters, Irma and Irsa, who are so alike in their appearances that it is impossible to tell them apart, although on the inside

they are quite different. Irsa is the one who tells the story. The two sisters grow up in a convent until they are fostered by a wealthy couple who have a mentally disabled son. Everything is perfect until they reach puberty and decide that they would like to choose their own husbands against the wishes of their foster parents. The sequence of events in this story is a whole lot quicker than in the fi rst one, and much more dramatic, especially towards the end.
