It's not the physical act of turning off a machine that plays on a doctor's mind; it's the events that follow. Everyone reacts differently, but the emotions are all the same. Relief, sadness, regret, and acceptance all come to the surface one after the other. But one emotion takes hold more so than all the others. Fear. Fear of the unknown.
Hannah watches the doctor go through a routine that he has done many times before, and it ends the same way every time. Somebody dies.
What happens next will make Hannah question everything she knows about life, death, and friendship.
