He played his most recent conversation over and over in his mind and he still couldn’t see any reason for her to be upset about anything he’d said to her. On the subject of those stocks, he was right about that too, although the problem was that he only saw his side of this lavish gift she’d sent him, not hers. Was she trying to buy him or what? He spent the next hour thinking only of himself, not about her or her feelings. When he did finally think of her, he couldn’t understand how she thought or what her thought processes were. In his mind, he could not even conceive of giving a gift that extravagant to anyone, ever. What he didn’t realize was that this amount of money to her was chump change. A half million dollars was a tip to a cab driver, that is if one took her overall wealth and compared it to normal people’s finances. What was a half million dollars in a relationship when one compared that amount to more than the hundred billion dollars that she had?
