Beschreibung

As a child, I can recall singing the song,

"Be careful little eyes what you see,

Be careful little eyes what you see,

For there's a God up above, and he's looking down below,

So be careful little eyes what you see."

The song continued with "little ears what you hear, and little feet where you go." As elementary and simple as the words to this song appear, those assigned to impart the meaning of this song failed to realize the importance of being first partakers of this message.

"When I Was A Child: A Journey From Religion To Relationship" is a narrative of how I was challenged with transitioning through various stages of life, development, and spiritual maturation based on the lens of others. This impacted me in ways that helped shape my identity and led me on a lifelong journey of discovering who I thought I was, how did I get there, and ultimately, who God destined me to be.

George Robert Montgomery is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. The fifth of seven siblings, he was reared in a Christian home and surrendered his life to Jesus at the age of eleven years old. He was called to ministry at an early age, and served as Senior Pastor at churches in Louisiana, Texas, and North Carolina. He is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans and is a post-graduate scholar. Montgomery has a wealth of experience in ministry as well as more than forty-five years working in Education, Mental Health, and Social Services. He and his wife, Elleanor, have been married for more than forty-one years, and they have three adult children, Keosha, Courtney, and George, Jr.
